Mindanao is located in southern part of the Philippines including the island of Sulu. Other component larger island in Mindanao are Basilan, Tawi-Tawi group of island in western side; Samal and Sarangani in southern part; Camiguin located in the north and Dinagat on the pacific side.
Mainland Mindanao is the second largest island in the Philippines at 94,630 square kilometers, The Island is the home of the world largest flying bird the Philippine Eagle (Pithecophaga jefferyi).

Political Subdivision and Economy
Mindanao has six (6) political divisions; Zamboanga Peninsula (Region IX), Northern Mindanao (Region X), Davao Region (Region XI), SOCCSKSARGEN (Region XII), CARAGA (Region XIII) and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Fishing is number one industry in Mindanao and a city tag as tuna capital of the Philippines is also here in Southern part of the island which is General Santos City. Palm oil and rubber plantation industries is also invested in Agusan del Sur, Sultan Kudarat and some part of western Mindanao respectively.
Two vast pineapple plantation in Asia is located in the island, the DOLE Philippines in South Cotabato and Del Monte Philippines in Bukidnon.Central Mindanao tag as one of our rice granary in the country and Davao region the number one banana and exotic fruit (durian) producer.

City of Davao
Davao City (Tagalog: Lungsod ng Dabaw; Cebuano: Dakbayan sa Dabaw) is one of the largest city in the Philippines in terms of land area which has 2,444 square kilometers and also tag as one of most progressive city of the country. The City of Davao has International Airport and seaport are the busiest ports of Mindanao.The Davao City is the regional center of Davao Region (Region XI) and one of the cities in the country that govern independently of any province. City of Davao is the most populous city in Southern Philippines with the population of 1,650,337 (2007 census). Metro Davao is also called The Royal City or The City of Royalties, because it is the home of King of Philippine skies and the largest flying bird in the world which is the Philippine Eagle; queen of Philippine orchids which is Waling-waling, the king of Exotic Fruits, which is Durian and the highest mountain in the Philippines, Mt Apo.
Metro Davao is one of the Philippines recognized Metro Area along with Metro Manila and Metro Cebu. Metro Davao comprises the following cities and municipalities: Davao City, Tagum City, Panabo City, Island Garden City of Samal, Digos City, and the Municipalities of Carmen and Sta. Cruz.

Cagayan De Oro City
Cagayan de Oro City or (Dakbayan sa Cagayan de Oro in Cebuano term), lies along the coastline of northern Mindanao Region; located in the heart of Misamis Oriental Province and serves also the capital city of the province. The city is the Regional Center of Northern Mindanao (Region-10) and it is most populated and highly urbanized city in the region with estimated population of 553,996 inhabitants. Cagayan de Oro City is also known as City of Golden Friendship. Cagayan de Oro City is one of the fastest growing city in terms of local economies because of high numbers of investors coming to the city and to put-up their business. The city has local and multi-national companies such as Del Monte Philippines, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola, Swift and others.
